Polished by KPT Plumeria

I am on an unofficial, relaxed no buy at the moment, today's post shows Plumeria which was part of my final purchase!   I say unofficial and relaxed because I haven't declared it to hubby so I can still buy polish without comment and relaxed because if something comes out which I MUST HAVE I MUST HAVE I MUST HAVE then sod it, have it I must!  My polish stash has doubled over the last six months or so, so it's time to appreciate all of what I do have!

Polished by KPT Plumeria is a beautiful thermal, so beautiful I wore it for two days, cleaned it off to do my crappy Easter Bunny nail art posted earlier this week, then put it back on as I hated the bunnies!

I managed to get full transition from cold (and wet) to warm.  Starting at cold.

Guest Post Robyn shares her Aurora

Today I have a guest post from my cousin in law, Robyn, not a blogger (yet!) but she's fast gaining a collection of polishes!

Hello!!

I'm Robyn and I am a nail polish addict!

I don't do blogging and I feel like I'm giving a speech in front of a crowd right now not just hiding behind my keypad so I apologise if I ramble on!

Twin Tartan post with Claire of Kerruticles.

I recently saw a picture of a tartan design on a Pinterest board belonging to Claire of Kerruticles and after a few comments we decided to do a twin post with a loose theme of tartan.

Here is the original design which inspired the idea.

Guest Post - Rachael of Racho's Nail Love

Today I have a guest post from a fellow UK Blogger who I am particularly fond of, she's had a small break recently but recently posted again about her lovely new lacquer collection, it's Rachael of Racho's Nail Love who is also 50% of the brains behind R&R Lacquer!

Hello lovely readers of Emma's Little Corner! I'm Rachael from Racho's Nail Love and I'm here for a guest post - thanks Emma for letting me do that! I've had a month or so out on a break, so this is a great opportunity for me to get back into the swing of things.

I just wanted to show you something quick today, so I thought I would show you my current 'go-to' nail art - distressed nails. I saw these over at Chalkboard Nails ages ago, and decided to try them and fell in love. Anything that is easy and looks good gets five stars from me and you seriously just can't fail at these!

I've stuck mainly to black in the past, but today I thought I would have a go at using a different colour, so I went for blue and white.

Here's my finished distressed base:

Magpie Monday Update and Kitty Spam

Just a brief update that I'm temporarily retired Magpie Mondays, but it doesn't mean that I don't love Sally Magpies just as much any more!  Only that as I'm on a no buy I just don't want the temptation!

Today I have some kitty spam of my own Grumpy looking cat.  For newer readers....  When we moved into our home the previous owner had a catflap in the door, so we locked it and thought nothing more of it as we had no pets of own. Then one December morning, I went to the loo and saw a flash of movement on the landing, screamed and on investigation we found him sitting under the Christmas tree.  He is a Siamese who broke into our house 18months ago and stole our hearts.  He had moved in next door with our neighbour but seemed determined to stay with us, breaking in several more times.

For these I dropped the DSLR to his height, turned it to auto without flash and just kept pressing the shutter.  The second one was as he decided to investigate.

Some crappy Easter Bunny nail art....

Thanks to the lovely guest bloggers so far this week, I have two more to come next week, but for today, well the clue is in the title... crappy Easter Bunnys!

My friend Carol tagged me in a post on Facebook with a tutorial, "simple" I thought, easy broken down step by step guide.  Wrong.....

Here is the tutorial, as you can see the post doesn't have any watermarks.  It came from Days Out with Kids page.

Guest post - Charlie of Pocket Money Polishes

Today's guest is Charlie of Pocket Money Polishes, this mani even made hubby say wow, so this one is something special!

Hello Little Corner Readers!

Charlie from Pocket Money Polishes filling in while Emma works on getting better. I love all of the bright manis that she features so took inspiration from that and got creative.

I started with a base of Leighton Denny Pure White which is a pretty good application as white goes, it is a little thin and takes 2-3 coats for full opacity but I settled for two as I would be covering it up with gradient. Using a small piece of sponge and some cardboard I combined OPI I Just Can't Cope Cabana (yellow), Toucan Do It (orange), Kiss Me I'm Brazilian (pink) from the spring Brazil collection. All of these are lovely bright colours with good applications.

Magpie Monday - Color Club Halo Hues Swatch Spam

Today's Magpie Monday is a holographic polish fest featuring the Color Club Halo Hues.  Sally Magpie was the first place I had easy access to the Halo Hues, I started off with Kisment and now have six!

I have been able to swatch these over the weekend and get a "proper" picture in the lightbox with DSLR and a phone picture taken in direct sunshine using my HTC One.  The phone pictures are pretty horrible in comparison to the camera pictures, but they show the full intensity of the holo!

All pictures below are two coats, no base or top coats.

FingerFood's Theme Buffet: Cinderella Fishtail

I mentioned in my last post that I had joined the FingerFood Theme Buffet, today is my first post - and it was a disasterous fail!

***edit - I even managed to publish this early, face palm, fail!!!***

I last did a fish tail in Oct 2012 - that was a fail.  This time I selected China Glaze For Audrey, Beauty UK Pink Orchid and a-england Her Rose Adagio as I thought they would look ok.  It looked awful as the polish dragged and didn't work.  So I got my 3 stripers and did the look below - only did my left hand as a practice and hated them.  I took the pictures below on my phone, then cleaned it off and did the mani I last posted - a popular dotticure!

I had done some clean up before taking the pictures, but it looks grubby and made worse by the flash on my phone.  Fingers crossed next weeks Goth theme will be better (and have proper pictures!)

The Fishtail that Isn't / Dalmatian dots!

I recently joined the Finger Food weekly challenge group on Facebook and this Sunday will be my first post, I'm going to dip in and partake when I can.   This weekend the theme is Fishtail so I decided to try my hand at this as I haven't done a fish tail for... almost two years?  The colours I picked made it into today's nails instead (with some black and white additions) as the Fishtail failed and needs to be reattempted.

Today I have Dalmatian dots!

Tri Polish Tuesday: Blue & Yellow plus then/now

Quick post tonight with TPT. As I used 3 colours last week, tonight is just blue and yellow. It is also a then / now post.

After my recently posted Bliss Kiss results, I decided to slightly shorten my nails, it was great to do it because I could, not due to a break!!

It is an all a-england design. The yellow is Holy Grail (original version) and the blue is Order of the Garter, my stamping polish is Bridal Veil.

Magpie Monday - Picture Polish

In March I alluded to having all of the Picture Polish Limited Edition polishes and wanting to swatch them, but having Aurora in my guess the polishes giveaway meant I decided to wait until now to swatch them properly!  I have Borealis siting held hostage at the sorting offie at the moment so that's not in these swatches.

Magpie Monday's usually feature polishes I purchased from Sally Magpies, but I know one off the ones below was from Rainbow Connection, I just don't remember which one!  At the time of writing this post, all of the polishes in this post are available from Sally Magpies piCture pOlish.

Each picture below has one coat of Wet n Wild Black Creme and one coat of the PP.  No top coats.  3 pics of each, name shown on bottle in first picture.

Update on my Bliss Kiss results.

**post contains affiliate links**

Following on frm a comment by Claire of Kerruticles about the length of my nails, it reminded me that I haven't written up this post as yet.  I've been intending to for the last week.

I tried out Bliss Kiss Pure Nail Oil™ in March and wrote up a post about my experiences which you can read here.  I carried on and have been religiously used the oil regularly each day and have found that my nails have been more flexible - I have only had one break since using the oil which was on my left thumb, around three days in. It will have been 4 weeks of use on Monday 7th and my results are quite good, although I won't be baring them anytime soon as they are stained horribly at the moment!

The biggest improvements for me are my index finger and thumb as they normally break easily.

Day one after just a single application, 3rd March.

Posted Friday 21st March but done two days after giving up the 3 days polish free.

Posted Monday 17th March, done a few days before.

Posted Monday 24th March, photos taken day before.

Posted Tues 1st April photos done a couple of days before.

Posted Friday 4th April, photos taken day before.

The growth and the improvement in my skin has been great, still have a few rough bits coming away but now my side walls look normal.

This final trio of pictures were taken today using my phone, the polish here is unblogged, Enkelini Lainey Lou.

I now have length beyond my tips!

To be honest: the length right now is longer than I would like, I am quite happy with the length they were a fortnight ago.  At this length they start doing silly things like catching on the buttons on the keyboard and going underneath the other keys (shuddddddddder inducing moments) Just how do Sarah of Penny Pinching Polishes, Charlotte of So You Beauty and Anna of AnnaBean's Nails manage with their super long nails?  I am going to leave them though and see just where my nails will get to.

When I first posted my review of Pure Nail Oil™ I mentioned that I hoped to buy a bigger bottle of the oils, it was suggested by fellow blogger Claire than I could just use Jojoba and a few drops of oil for fragrance.

I had mentioned in the original post that I was being very generous in my applications.  Well... I used my original bottle up very quickly (I have a bit left in the bottom of the bottle) and I used the pen within a week and  I was able to find the recipe for Pure Nail Oil™ online and decided to try my hand at mixing my own oil... The results were horrific.  I didn't get the balance right (a mistake in my downscaling the recipe) and the oils I fragranced it with are awful.  Worse still I have gallons of the home made rubbish to use up before I can justify to myself to spend on the real deal, well I have around 200ml plus I  filled up five old oil bottles and have them on the go too! Huge reminder to self not to be over confident and stick with ready made stuff!  My self made oil is quite greasy, but it does sink in eventually, lets hope the results stay and that I can get the real deal again soon - hopefully we will have a UK supplier too!

Dance Legend AQUAgenetic base review / comparison / Layla Cloudy Violet swatches.

I mentioned a couple of days ago that I purchased the AQUAgenetic base by Dance Legend, well today's post is a review of it (finally!) and a comparison to how well it works with holo compared to other regular bases,  It's a slightly more picture heavy and wordy post than my normal posts.

Golden Oldie Thursday - Pastel.

Today's Golden Oldie theme is pastels.  I reached for last year's spring Barry M and China Glaze purchases, using a total of 6 oldies in this easter bonnet themed pastel mani.

Oddly I didn't notice the hole in my little finger until looking at these pictures.

Dance Legend Sahara Texture Top Coat

I've been meaning to write this post up for a couple of weeks!

Warning! This post contains crappy mobile photos!

A couple of weeks ago I purchased my first Dance Legend polishes from Rainbow Connection.  Rather than get a gorgeous holo, an amazing thermal or stunning multichrome, what did I get....?  A texture top coat and an Aqua Base!  I have to say I can't wait to try their normal polishes at some point, but for now I needed an Aqua Base and I love having a variety of special effect  top coats in my stash as they mean I can change the look of normal plain creme polishes!

Tri-Polish Tuesday: Pink Blue and Yellow.

I've been a bit lax on the Tri-Polish Tuesdays since breaking my nails in February quite badly, sitting out some of February and all of March. This month's colours are pink, blue and yellow.  Today I used them all, OPI Can't Find My Czechbook, SpaRitual Magnify and Beauty UK Yellow Peril along with Wet n Wild Black Creme and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  Pictures with HK Girl top coat.
