Barry M Gelly Dotticure

After all the technical posts earlier this week, now on to nails!

This mani was done in early May when I had a horrible callous on my little finger caused by my phone case, I mentioned this in my SpaRitual review post.

I used Barry M polishes for this: Matte White base and Gellys in Greenberry, DragonFruit, Guava and Grapefruit.  I didn't have the new Gellys at this point otherwise I would have probably used them.

How to adapt your blog header to your Facebook page

Whilst my nails are nubbins, I thought I would write a couple of technical layout / blogger related posts.  This is the last one....

PicMonkey Blog Banner tutorial (picture heavy post)

Whilst my nails are nubbins, I thought I would write a couple of technical layout / blogger related posts.  This is the second one....

Following on from my last post about my blog layout, I mentioned I would also do a header post.  As with my last post, for an experienced blogger this may be teaching you how to suck eggs, but for newer bloggers it may be of interest.

When I first started out with making the banners, it was a whole Sunday afternoon wasted messing about and swearing, then starting over.  Now I have it down to a relatively fine art.  In my last post about page layouts I referred to noting down colours and saving the document to refer to later.  Saving this info really helps to cut down the time taken to make a banner as you already know your widths and font colours!

Blogger Layout Guide

Whilst my nails are nubbins, I thought I would write a couple of technical layout / blogger related posts.  This is the first one....

Sometime ago I had a black background and have been through a number of banner pictures (will come onto banners in a further post!) I also noticed that my page seemed very slow loading, so I decided to wipe the slate clean and go with a fairly simple layout.  If you're an experienced Blogger user this is probably telling you how to suck eggs, but if you are a newer blogger or looking to redesign your blog layout, this is how I did mine...

My Dotticure 101

It's no secret I love my dotting tools, I have been asked a couple of times about how I place my dots.  There's no real secret to it, dotting tools are ace: a quick way to get an eye catching manicure which looks like you spent hours (or used wraps) but actually took very little time.

In this post I have covered my two sized randomly placed dots and uniform polka dots.

My dotting tools cost about £2 from ebay, I bought them from a UK seller.  When dotting I have an array of colours (usually bright), a bit of scrap paper to dollop my polish on (other bloggers use plastic lids as you can clean them down and reuse them, we have loads of scrap paper so I use that!), kitchen roll to wipe my dotting tools on and pure acetone in case I need to clean my dotting tools down: usually this will be because I was lazy on my last use and didn't remove any remaining polish!  My most used tool is the pink one, it has a big and small dotter and I love it.

Why I love Mentality and what's been going on

Today I have a dotticure with Mentality matte polishes.  The photos were all taken on my phone.

I used one coat of Duri, two coats of Regal and Virginia then dotted with the reverse colour.  The first couple of pictures is how the polishes dry, to a matte with a shimmer.

MoYou Nails Stamping set review.

**press sample**

Firstly today, apologies for my absence over the last week or so.  Today I have a review of a stamping set from MoYouNails.com - I was sent two plates, a white stamping polish, a scraper and stamper to try out.

The stamping plates are presented as shown on the left, in a bag with blue film over the plates.  The plates have a backing to them, I forgot to photograph this.

Pastel with dots

Today I have some pastels with dots, this was a quick design done around Easter.  Pastel base colours with white dots.

Bright Dots

This dotticure was an unintended success.  Unintended as I actually started out to do something entirely different (more on that later) but it went horribly wrong and this was a quick change of plan (having already spent over half an hour doing my nails the first time!)

SpaRitual Luminary Matte top coat in Citrine and Opaline

Today I have some products sent for review by SpaRitual.  I had hoped to post this earler today but have only just been able to write this up!

The top coats I have to review are from the SpaRitual signature collection.  I am a big fan of special finish top coats offering a way to double up your polish stash by layering them to get new looks and finishes.

Rainbow Barry M Watermarble

Today's Rainbow Watermarble was borne from bad heartburn over the weekend!  I decided to try lying facedown for a bit to ease the terrible reflux, found myself flicking through my swatch sticks and picking out 11 colours to use for a rainbow mani, I needed a neutral base plus 10 colours (2 per nail) and had intended dotting.  Whilst flicking through the sticks the idea of a watermarble came to mind, using a clear glittery polish and colours.  The clear glittery polishes didn't work so I used my white base along with the two colours per nail.  All polishes used were Barry M, I'll list them at the end.
