Barry M Autumn Gelly Release 2014 Swatches and Comparisons

The newest six additions to the Barry M Gelly line were released to Superdrug on Weds 27th August, having finally completed my Gelly collection a couple of months ago, I had to pick them up and keep the collection complete.  Superdrug had them on 3 for 2 so I got them all for just under £16.  Today's post features swatches of each of the six new shades plus a comparison to the closest polish in my stash.  All polishes in today's post were purchased by me, with the exception of the Beauty UK ones, these were previously provided for review.

All pictures are two coats, no top coat.  Application was good on all of these with one exception which I will mention further down.

First is Cardamom, a dusty green.

a-england Camelot with gold accents.

note - photos in this post were taken in away from normal lighting.  Some were in full sunshine, some were in indirect light.  Yes I really do glow in the dark in direct sunshine.

Chocolate gradient with pink accents

I love how well brown and pink work together, this brown gradient had been something I wanted to try for a while now, so brightening it  up with pink seemed like a plan!

British Nail Blogger Colour Me Crazy - Black & White (and silver and grey!)

I have loosely translated this week's Colour Me Crazy theme of black and white to add in silver and grey.  I love how simple this is but how it all ties in together so well!

piCture pOlish Time Warp swatch and skittlette

Anyone who gets to see my Facebook updates (with Facebook pushing for pages to pay to be seen this probably means just a quarter of people will see them) may have seen an excited update from me a couple of weeks ago when I had just seen that I won the whole Rocky Horror Collection.  When they arrived, Time Warp was the first polish I wanted to try!

Beauty UK Red Royale swatches and how I wore it.

Back in June I took part in a series of Guess the Polish posts with a giveaway linked to the launch of a new range of Beauty UK polishes described as "Perfect pigment, statement shine, no rival polish lasts like mine".  Today I have a polish from that new range to share, Red Royale with swatches and how I wore it.

I have used two coats of Red Royale in the pictures below, no top coat.  It is so glossy alone!  Apologies for the red middle finger, I had an eczema flare up again recently.

Beauty UK Tealed With a Kiss and Purple Pizzazz swatches, review and how I wore them / tutorial

Today seems a picture heavy post as I have swatches AND how I wore x 3 plus a brief tutorial!  I have two polishes from the Beauty UK Nails collection which retail at £2.99, both cremes and we know I love a good creme polish!

Firstly Tealed with A Kiss, two coats, no top coat.  Thumb has three coats, I smudged it moving from breakfast bar to light box (3 steps!) the extra coat smoothed it out a treat.

Liz Earle Ebb Tide and Pink Perpetue swatches and how I wore them

Today I have swatches of two polishes from Liz Earle, Ebb Tide and Pink Perpetue.  I should also be showing a "how I wore it" set of photos, but the camera decided to eat them :/  I do have a description though!!

I have been a huge fan of Liz Earle for many years, I used to religiously watch her shows on QVC and would even Sky+ them if I was at work!  As a range it was probably the first real skin care range I got into in my early 20s, I did experiment with other QVC brands, but kept coming back to Liz Earle, one of the few ranges which didn't cause me any type of skin reactions.  The "newer" additions to the Liz Earle Family have been make up and nail polish collections, I have two to try out.  Liz Earle polishes are enriched with avocado and borage oils and free from toluene.

Firstly I have swatches of "Ebb Tide" which described as "An elegant muted mushroom with a soft hint of mauve. Very versatile."  Pictures below are two coats, no top coat.

BNB Colour Me Crazy Purple Reject

In my previous post I mentioned I had done the purple mani twice, this is the Colour me Crazy purple reject, the one I liked least.  Not much to say really, it too dull, stud placement wonky on the little finger, top coat wrinkling on ring finger (just like in the other post, old bottle of HK Girl which is almost empty.)

Oh and I didn't get my normal bottle photo, well I did but I think it got eaten by the photo gremlins.

British Nail Bloggers Colour Me Crazy Purple

This week's Colour Me Crazy theme is purple.  I didn't like my first set of nails for this theme so I did another.  This is the second mani, I will share the ones I didn't like in my next post!

#fightforlightandlive : depression awareness green nails.

"Depressed" is a word that I feel has become a part of everyday language.  Kids use the phrase "I am feeling depressed" without any idea of what depression really is.  A black cloud looming overhead, without necessarily any reasons why.  Wanting to sleep for hours and still waking up exhausted, then wanting to sleep some more.  No appetite.  Physical symptoms which have no cause.  Numbness and feeling detatched.  Withdrawing into yourself.

Today's nails are part of #fightforlightandlive which I saw on Instagram following the recent news of Robin Williams' suicide.  The tragedy seems to have struck a chord with many people, I guess because you would think with his fame and wealth that he would have access to top specialists and help, and not reach a low of seeing only one way out.

China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy swatches and how I wore it.

Today's post is a more recent one so my nails are looking longer in this than they may do in my last couple of posts! I have quite a vault of photos which I am wading through, trouble is as I clear one set of photos I am adding some more!  #nailgirlproblems!  I recently won a couple of China Glaze polishes including Flip Flop Fantasy in a Facebook like and share giveaway from so today's post is a straight swatch of Flip Flop Fantasy and also shows photos of how I wore it.

First photos are of two coats of Flip Flop Fantasy over Duri, no top coat.  The white bottle has no relevence to this photo, I used it to try and stop the camera throwing a fit at the neon colour.

eve snow swatches & review of Maggie and Alter Ego

I am really excited about today's review, today I have some swatches of a new (to me) luxury brand of nail polish, eve snow.  The brand first hit the UK market last year and is created by Yvette Snowden.  Polishes in the range are free from formaldehyde and DBP plus feature a "3 added" statement, a declaration of the additions of  Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin E and Argan Oil.  The brand is cruelty free and their website declares their polishes to be "highly pigmented with a higher percentage of colour solution than other nail polishes."  I was definitely intrigued to find out more.

The one that should have been a colour block: cream, brown and blue.

As the title suggests, when I sat down to do this mani, I was intending doing colour blocks on my ring and middle fingernails.  Topcoat was against me though, my seche went thick and my nails looked lumpy.  I cleaned the two accent nails off and started over and this was the result.

Beauty UK Ultra Gloss Top Coat - Review.

I am forever looking out for a new top coat, ones I have tried include OPI Rapidry, Seche Vite, NYC Grand Central Station, KIKO Gel top coat, Poshe, a-england The Shield, Nails Inc Albert Bridge and most recently Glisten & Glow HK Girl.  All of the ones named have had both positive and negative features.  When a press release from Beauty UK came through about a new range of nail care products, I leapt at the chance to put the Ultra Gloss Top Coat and the Matte Top Coat to the test.  In today's post I am covering the Gloss Top Coat and intending to post tomorrow about the Matte Top Coat.

Retailing at £3.99, I thought this top coat may be a bargain find... Read on to find out more!

Attempt at Graphic Equalizer Nail Art.

This is my attempt at Graphic Equalizer nail art.  I saw some amazing nail art on IG and had a go at recreating it.  Fail!

Colour Wheel App picks my polish

Barry M Waikiki has been a polish I have wanted to use for some time, but I wasn't sure what to match it with.  I remembered Sammy the Nailasaurus mentioning Kuler by Adobe and wondered if I could find an app to help with picking colours.  I had a look in the Android Playstore and found an app called Colour Wheel which helped me to pick colours complimentary to this shade: purple and blue.

SpaRitual Symmetry and QuickSilver swatches, review and how I wore it.

Second post today: a review of two polishes from SpaRitual Symmetry and Quicksilver and also has a couple of extra pictures at the end showing how I wore Symmetry.

Post contains press samples.

Firstly a little background on SpaRitual polishes: their polishes are five free vegan friendly polish, free from DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor.  The bottle is ergonomic and designed by Ferrari, they have a fantastic rubber grip on the handle and the bottles themselves are made from recycled glass.  The range of polishes includes a range of permanent colours with between 4-6 additional seasonal collections released each year. SpaRitual offer a range of fun, modern yet sophisticated shades.  The Signature Collection which these two shades from includes 36new shades

Firstly Symmetry, a pinky nude.  Pictures are two coats, no top coat.

Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum & Watermarble

I had been toying with the idea of combining Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum with white and teal, but wasn't quite sure what to do with the white and teal nails.  Somehow we ended up with a water marble!  Instagram user LamLam posted a mani using Execto Patronum on her middle and ring fingers and a teal on her index and little fingers which reminded me I had sent myself an email a week before to combine these colours.

British Nail Bloggers Colour Me Crazy: Blue

My sea-coloured mermaid skittlette idea developed in my mind over a day, gradients and holo and micro holo gitter and studs... perfect for Colour Me Crazy Blue theme!

Barry M Pastel mix

I had been toying with some way of combining a mix of pastel shades and the Barry M Gellys were a great option, bright yet pastel-y!  I added a polish from the matte collection and made it shiny with top coat!

The Miami bottle was damaged in transit from Boots online, they didn't individually package the polishes and the label was rubbed off.

SpaRitual Pastel Skittlette

**press samples**

Today's skittlette was one of those ideas which came to me in a random moment and I made a point of emailing myself to ensure I didn't forget as the pastel nature of these colours by SpaRitual work together so well for this.
