40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Halloween

Purchased by me  Press sample.

Today's 40 Great Nail Idea theme is - appropriately -  Halloween, to be fair I could probably find plenty of ideas with this theme and cover two weeks, but I am sticking to just one post (again) this year. Don't Fear the Reaper.  You may not even pick him out, but he's in there along with a couple of sets of glowing red eyes in the undergrowth.

Smitten Skittle

I'm rather partial to Smitten polishes, so when the recent Fall 2015 collection was released I was tempted to buy a couple - plus one of the limited editions benefiting the black mamba anti poaching unit. When they arrived I couldn't make my mind up which to wear first so I skittled them.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Review.

Today I thought I would take another break from nail posts and try a review of something entirely out of my comfort zone... a mobile phone review!  I recently reached the end of my contract and have been so impressed by the new phone that I have decided to write about it.  If you aren't interested in this kind of thing, please move on and I will be returning to nails from my next post :)  This post is in no way sponsored, it's just something I decided to write.

Nothing to Disclose

I mentioned in my last post that I had been to Devon.  For readers outside of the UK, Devon is one of the south west counties in England, it has stunning coast lines.  I live in the Midlands, close to Nottingham (Sherwood Forest area) and we are totally land locked here, so getting away by the sea is pretty special for hubs and I.

We went to Westward Ho! (the only place in the UK with an exclamation mark on it's name) over the first weekend in October, the weather we had was amazing!  The temperatures felt like it was May or June, we were able to wear t'shirts.  There was none of the bracing cold sea breeze you would experience of the east coast: Skegness I am looking at you.  I thought I'd take a break from a nail post today and share some photos from my time there.

All photos taken on my phone.

Phone photo spam

In my 40 Great Nail Art ideas posts, I showed my newly shortened nails.  The next photos are from the days before then.  Some I had snap shotted quickly on my phone, but never photographed properly.  Some of the polishes used within the post are press samples.

The first mani was inspired by a Nailasaurus mani using a red angel stamping plate.  I didn't like the stud placement I tried and ended up removing this mani within an hour.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Geek

Today the 40 great nail art ideas theme is geeks.  I had a fantastic idea for this one which involved two layers done on my Ubermat.  But then a) I cut my nails off and b) I realised I hadn't got time.  I cut my nails off to try and get rid of the strong horizontal ridges which are growing out at the moment (read

So I have opted for an alternative take on geeks.  I am a nail geek.  The uberbright neon orange base is a polish I picked up recently.  I was on holiday in Devon and noticed that a new shop was opening with a wall of nail polish.  As it opened the day after, we HAD to go back and I HAD to buy something!  This orange was one of four polishes I purchased.  I also am a dotting geek and haven't done a full mani with lots of dots for ages, so I went for that too.

Colors by Llarowe Beam Me Up Scotty swatches

Beam Me Up Scotty is a CbL polish I picked up from a nail polish sale page on Facebook. Google is telling my that the polish is limited edition from roughly 2012 and no longer available.

The polish is a pale silvery blue colour, but in some lighting the light turquoise comes out too, the photos below show two coats with CbL PDQ top coat, taken with my phone using the flash (which really brings out the turquoise.)

Inspired by Mary's top!

The inspiration behind this mani is the top a colleague of mine called Mary was wearing.  I noticed the pattern and saw this mani from there.  She was wearing a black and white swirly patterned tunic, which had red and white ovals in the pattern.  I changed the colours around and this is the result.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas - Hobbies

Today sees the beginning of a new Crumpet's Nail Tarts Challenge.  I am hoping to keep up with the fortnightly themes - once every two weeks seems much more do-able for me and my poor track record!

Today the theme is hobbies, although this may look like a "normal" Emma skittlette there are several reasons why I have done this, which I will come on to.
